History

The organization was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in April 2011.  The success of its group Jazz 4 Nothin’, which was founded by Jonathon Tangye and Alison Graham in the winter of 2010, inspired the group to seek non-profit status in order to further its educational purposes.  The 4 Nothin’ Symphony and Choir 4 Nothin’ were soon, being formed in the Spring of 2012.

He is currently an auditor at EisnerAmper, LLP in Jenkintown.

Alison Graham, Secretary

Alison Graham is one of the co-founders of Jazz 4 Nothin', the Secretary of Music 4 Nothin', and a perennial academic. Growing up in a highly musical family, Alison began studying piano at the age of five and trumpet at the age of ten. Prior to college, she studied under an Ukrainian piano teacher, Vera Shissel, for seven years, attending numerous piano competitions and clinics in Pennsylvania (including those hosted by the Pennsylvania Piano Music Teachers' Association (PPMTA) at Temple University and Slippery Rock University). While earning her undergraduate degree at West Chester University in the fields of History and Russian (graduating summa cum laude, being named a Who's Who in American Colleges

and Universities in her senior year, and being inducted into two honors societies), Alison was heavily involved in the music program at the school, earning a Minor in Music. At the University she studied piano privately under Dr. Robert Bedford and participated in various instrumental ensembles, studied academic music theory to the same extent of any graduating music major, and acted (part-time) as an accompanist at the school. Alison then continued her academic studies by attending La Salle University and earned her Master of Arts degree in Central and Eastern European Studies with distinction (awarded the highest honors in her program) as well as a Certificate in National Security and Intelligence Studies. Again at the graduate school, she aided the small music program there by accompanying the choir and participating in the musical ensembles available at the school. Since graduating, Alison currently works full time in the field of criminal background screening, and is heavily involved in various musical ensembles in the area, having already been the Brass Director at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Doylestown, and participating in Delaware Valley Community Band and Southampton Community Band. She has also been hired numerous times by professional musicians in the area to play in various pit orchestras throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Alison is currently the Choir Director position at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Feasterville, PA.

Andrew MacNamee, Treasurer

Andrew has been playing with Jazz 4 Nothin’ from day one. A native of Dublin, he is primarily a euphonium player but picked up the trombone at age 13 to broaden his musical opportunities. In high school, he was honored with the John Philip Sousa Award and performed with the PMEA District XI Band. While completing his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and math education at Boston University, Andrew performed with the university’s concert and athletic bands. During his collegiate career, he was recognized with the BU Pep Band’s Esprit de Corps Award, the Kappa Kappa Psi-Tau Beta Sigma Marching Band Service Award, BU Marching Band’s Unsung Hero Award, and was twice voted Best Facial Hair (Male).

After graduation, Andrew made a triumphant return to Bucks County. He is currently active in the community band scene as a regular member of the Central Bucks Community Band, Delaware Valley College Concert Band, and Southampton Community Band, as well as substituting in other groups. When he is not playing music, Andrew works as a climbing instructor and math teacher and enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible.
